« on: 28 September 2011, 15:04:47 »

Long shot I know but has anybody on here have a Bmw 635csi 84 model engine ecu in there garage or know of one anywhere ?

A friend of mine is rebuilding one for a customer.
Last week, the battery was flat so his apprentice conected a battery pack up (the wrong way) and flashed the ecu  :'( :'(

Thy are like rocking horse sh*t apparenty and he is recieving stupid quotes just to take the cover off the thing to check it out  :(

Any advise or pointers welcome  :y

I have a friend who has a 635CSI, 2002, etc and might well be involved in owners clubs. Maybe he'll be able to help.

There's a chance it's only the power supply circuit that has gone pop, in which case it might be a simple repair. I'd offer to have a look if I were closer. :-\

I'll have a word and find out what exactly what the ecu / car is doing.

I know the local auto sparky has had the lid off but couldn't see anything  :-\

Now had a word

The engine cranks over.
No spark.
The ecu is making the injectors lock open / filling the cylinders up with fuel.

OK. He suggests checking the following:

http://www.fabdirect.com/
http://www.fritzsbits.co.uk/
http://www.bigcoupe.com/phpBB2/index.php

Also suggests that an E28 535 might have the same ECU.

If the injectors are spraying constantly it suggests that the drivers for these have fried at least. :'(
