Air con belt tensioner issue...
« on: 29 September 2011, 09:54:27 »

The Water pump drive belt has snapped and I am having an issue remving the bolt from the air con tensioner in order to remove that belt...

Would I run into any issues if I cut the Air con belt and replace it at a further point???  Obviously I know that the air con won't work, (which it doesn't anyway)...

Thanks...

What type of engine have you got?
No idea about in-line 4's but on a V6 the aux belt tensioner is top left as you stand in front of the engine. 15mm socket/spanner on it & lever to the right, no need to actually remove any bolts. If a 2.5 or 3.0 with SAI, the belt threads though behind the SAI pipework for which there's a M6 bolt to be removed.  :y

Ah...  Hadn't realised it wasn't showing anymore...

It is a 2.5TD...  Aux tensioner is right behind the Viscous Fan/cowling at the bottome of the engine...

I'd forgotten about a diesel option!  ::) No idea about them either!  ::) ::)

Isn't it a similar tensioner though?  :-\

Cheers ShackEng...  I was following your guide, but as the old water pump belt had snapped, I was unable to remove the viscous fan and the surrounding cowling...   With that out of the way I can get the air tools onto the relavent bolt...

I have ended up just cutting the AC belt off and leaving that be for the time being until I have some suitable time to sort it...
