Help Can't get wishbones off
« on: 02 October 2011, 13:19:02 »

I'm on the first one, drivers side, undid both large bolts/nuts and removed bolts, undid clamp behind disc where pointy end of wishbone goes in, can't get the damn thing out for the life of me...
Any ideas??

Wedge a big bar on it and hit it hard with a big hammer lots of times.

Thanks, brute force and ignorance won in the end.

Spread the clamp slightly with a cold chisel, or similar wedge shaped blunt instrument. Bolt fully removed, clean the top of the pin best you can, lever the arm down with a long pry bar in the centre hole of the wishbone, if it doesn't pop out, whack wb with a hammer. Shock should shift it.

Numerous methods, but that's how I do it anyway.

Did the other side today, in half the time...
FWIW, i removed wheel, brakes, brake disc, bolts through suspension leg, bolt through where spigot from wishbone sticks up, then knocked spigot down, it fell straight out, undid two bolts holding wishbone to car, manouvered it side to side until it came out...
Passenger side was actually easier than the drivers side, i wish i had done that one first now...

I hope you're fitting Lemforders. The Delphis I fitted a couple of years ago only lasted about 3000miles. :y

You were lucky, don't think I got that far on my delphi ones. >:(

Currently got firstline ones, polybushed from day one. So far so good :y
