i never quite got the point of total heat , i like it spicy, sure,  but i like it TASTY more....  ... a balance of  both is ideal..

my favourite curry place is called known as the clock tower, in Colwyn Bay, ... they do a chicken or lamb curry , made with copious amounts of hot lime pickle....  can;t remember what it's called, but it's lovely....

packs a punch,  all the way through.....

if anyone fancies their luck on making a hot chilli dish, i have a bottle of something called 100% pain.

it's truly mental,

I see I'm in the 20% population range ...  love a Jalfrezi ....   :y :y :y :y anything hotter and I can't taste the actual food ...
yeah that about my level, although it depends on the curry house, my local Jalfrezi is sometimes perfect for me, other times way too hot, depends on the chief that night maybe? Tiffins spicy scale is a little high for me, so tend to play safe with a Bhuna or Kharai.

First visit to a curry house, Bhuna. If it's hotter than normal I can still eat, then go from there.

Naga Chicken is my current preferred dish :y

Has been known to result in afterburn the next morning  :-[
Must admit, I'm seriously considering that very dish for my next curry as it's slightly cooler than the last couple of Ceylon's I've had
Should be about the same - both a supposed to be a slightly-hotter-than-madras type dishes...
Yeah... But Tiffins don't actually do the Ceylon and it seems to come out hotter than normal :-\ :-\ Or I'm just becoming a little feminine :-[ ::) :D

Yeah, not playing that bloody game, I'd rather enjoy my food tbh.

Although having said that you can keep the curry itself, if theres popadoms and bottomless chutney tray I'm happy :)

...then I can be bottomless in the morning. ;D

;D Oh yeah, I could skip the meal and just eat the poppadoms and chutney all night!

Although I am partial to a good curry - had one not long ago in a lovely place somewhere between Ayelsbury and the M40. Sadly I couldn't find the place again if you paid me, it was random chance that the sat nav picked a pub run by people who make a mean curry ;D

I really enjoy my spicy food and all my home cooking of Chicken Vindaloo, Chili Con Carni and accompany chilli sauces have to be at the max  :) :) or just eating picked chilies for enjoyment  and an Indian night out has to be a Vinaloo for me, I find the hot spices enhance the subtle flavours of the dish, but I appreciate it is each to his own and when I'm cooking for other people and producing curry dishes they are mild enough for them to enjoy, as I cook for my friends enjoyment.  ;)

I fortunate as spicy food does not make me uncomfortable and it makes my digestive system much more comfortable after a good hot curry and I've never suffered from a ring burner problem.  :y :y :y

The main spiciness in a Vindaloo is not actually chili powder but mustard!!! The "Vind" part of a vindaloo is about marinating the meat in vinegar.

I enjoy Indian food so if anybody is interested in some recipes then let me know. Do other OOFers make their own poppadoms as they are so easy to produce and very moreish.  :) :y

I have suggested before, we ought to have an OOF favorite recipes section, what do other OOFers think? I have not tried it yet, but I have a glut of Marrows and Courgettes and I'm going to try the soup recipe that has been posted.  :)

I can confirm, Gayboy is the king of the poppadoms, or more accurately, the chutney dishes.

I too enjoy the poppadoms and chutneys more, esp if out with friends, as its more 'snack-y' and therefore tends, imho, to be more socialable.  Being a greedy git, once the main course arrives, no time for talking ;D

As someone who spent most of his life in Aylesbury, did you return to M40 via Thame, or Princes Risborough>

I had noticed the trend that the table goes quite quiet once the mains arrive ::) ::)

I know you've been to the one at the bottom of the Market Square - Chilli and Pepper (was probably Jaypur II then?), if you prefer that, we can always go in there next time?
