Financial Irony (political I guess)
« on: 07 October 2011, 17:29:02 »

had to smile. We are all being told to pay off our credit cards and tighten our belts.

The banks (still) don't have any money they are prepared to lend to business (e.g. my mate) ,despite it being years after they were propped up and told to get lending, so the engine house of the economy is suffering but .................

They can give (and i mean give) billions to the Greeks who will never pay it back

Mervyn King can magic up 75 BILLION to  Quantative Ease this year(i.e. throw away)

UBS can lose 1.3billion on the actions of one rogue gambler

And people worry that the unions bank roll Labour. Who bank rolls the Conservatives? The hedge funds (hard core gamblers not real workers).

It just isn't going to work. ::)

Agreed. Its monopoly money, and, in the long run, only add to our problems. :o

when reading your post interestingly this idea pop ups..

all we watch is a series of lies..

actually we are consuming what people on earth has already produced or grown or build .. so basically  we eat drink use which is available around us.. (its not important its import or not take it as a total system)

now according to monetary theories the money in the market must be (at least proportional) to produced values..

so there must not be total  minus summing up country budgets.. in fact looking at inflation rates money must be more than the actual value of goods..

so, some people suck the money from the market and tell us porkies.. >:(

RE: Quantative Easing or more commonly known as printing shed loads of it!!

I've heard that they've redesigned the £50 note and I'm hoping that it's going to be a nice neutral colour so they'll look nice as wallpaper...  ;)

Hedge funds dont sponsor/ bankroll individual MP,s or have a very large vote in who the Tory party leader is - completely different situation altogether.
Mervyn isnt printing more money so it can be backhanded to Tory donors, hes doing it out of desperation, but your probably right on one thing - it wont work. Trouble is, I dont think anyone has any real idea what will work anymore.
This one truly is a global problem which this country actually is in a slightly stronger position than many others to withstand the possible financial firestorm.

There could be a bit of a chicken and egg situation here....  ::) Everyone must nip out and buy their wheelbarrows now, while they can still physically carry enough of the folding stuff ;) Electronic payments will collapse as the system won't be able to handle all the zero's and wheelbarrows will become highly prized!! Get one now!  and if you have one, guard it with your life!!  :y

I knew people in Zimbabwe when hyperinflation was at it's worst, who as soon as they had cash they'd go out and buy stuff.  Anything that would store value.  So yes gold, silver, jewellery, antiques, art, cars, motorbikes etc etc

It might not get as bad as Zimbabwe here, but if it does, look on the bright side.  When we're trundling down the pub with our wheelbarrows full of cash, because a pint costs £5,000,000, we can all pay our mortgages off with the change.....  :D

just How do you know? The hedge funds are the single biggest contributors to the Conservatives. Above a certain level of donation gaurantees a meeting(meal if you like) with Cameroon. I guess they don't talk any politics just football and F1.

Vamps - you have sort of missed the gold bandwagon. BUT it is still a good medium. That and your own garden/allotment producing food.

Tory party leadership afaik is decided by members votes, unlike labour. If they were bankrolling individual MP,s it would be done in secret and most probably illegal.
With labours system, the unions have a huge say in who the leader is.They put Milliband in the leaders chair (god bless them for that) against the wishes of the party members and constituency parties. He who pays the piper........
Not particularily defending the Tories - have never voted for them and probably never will - but the comparison you made, just doesnt bear scrutiny.
P.S. I would much rather be part of a hedge fund than part of a Union, probably more ethical and for all but the bruvvers at the top of the (equal) food chain, definetely more lucrative. :)
