Unless you have the old Part 2 bike test, you must have:

CBT - up to 125 (50 if 16), need to have L plates. Valid for 3 yrs.  Once expired, you need to retake (pretty much formality to 'pass' CBT).

Bike test - if taken on a 500cc and you are over a certain age (21?) you can ride anything. If taken on smaller, or you're younger, there are restrictions.

I passed my test in 1982 on a 1973 Lambretta 150 just before the two part test arrived.

Gosh! `looking back, those tests were farsical; my test was stopped early because a dog ran out and bit my boot, I stopped (of course) and the examiner walked up and said I`d reacted perfectly and I`d passed!.....only gone round the block once and that was it!

Later, I did however do the Police 'Roadcraft' course (in those days they offered it to 'Jill-public' in Cheshire) and then later I did the I.A.M M/C course/test......`Happy days indeed!  :y

The only reason I took my test was I had to ride through Frodsham which was a biker town on my way to work between Chester and Manchester and my scooter would only do about 55mph flat out but the tuned Fizzies could easily catch me so I passed my test and by-passed Frodsham on the M56 ;D
