Is a 2.6 different from a 2.5 then?

I changed mine on the 2.5 without removing the cambelt cover. You do have to be careful not to drop any of the three torx headed bolts that hold the pump in position but a bit of grease in the socket head helps.  :y

Hi Varche

I've removed the pulley cover but the actual pump appears to be behind the cam cover?

Hi

From memory there are three small bolts - about 10 mm normal head that hold the pulley on the water pump. When you take those off THEN you can see into the recesses of the cam cover and just get at the TorX bolts that actually hold the pump onto the engine block.. Slim extn bar helps

have you got a new pump to fit? Or are you just renewing the seal? If you have a pump you will see where the torx bolts are.

Anyone confirm that the 2.5 and the 2.6 are the same in this area pls?

You can remove the pump without taking the cambelt cover off but be careful not to drop the torx bolts into the cover

Yes. 2.5 has a short plenum a 2.6 has a long plenum  :y

As said, they are torx type bolts,so you will need the correct size torx socket to remove them. ;)
