They were, of course a complete shed from new, and, given that it was a US import the crappy old PRV V6 will be even more asthmatic than the UK models were.
But.. You're right. It would be quite cool to drive round in one.
Aah - the bastaad that was the PRV V6.
As fitted to the Volvo 760 I once had - there wasn't even a good sound out of it never mind a turn of speed. Prone to overheating, I cooked the engine in central London traffic relegating myself to the delightful front garden of a colleague’s house in Sunningdale to faf about doing the necessary repairs.
What a pig it was to work on into the bargain - especially given the rudimentary tools available and the 16 hour work days at the time still, happy days.
Crikey! Working on your car in public.. Not something that's "done" in Sunningdale, I'd have thought. Must have got a few curtains twitching.
My parents had a 260, 760 and a Renault Espace all with that engine. Yes, they went through a few head gaskets between them IIRC.
Can't recall what went into the 760 but earlier incarnations had an odd firing order due to a late design decision to make it into a V6 instead of a V8.
That didn't do much for the engine note or smoothness.
Here you go.. <shudder>
