cutting out when slowing down
« on: 18 October 2011, 20:40:22 »

the problem has only just started. when slowing down in traffic my vehicle simply cuts out. a big problem on roundabouts and turing!! >:(

if i am slowing down and changing gear it happens, or when foot is on the brake it happens. i have noticed the rev counter dips lower than idle then back up only for the car to stall!!

i have cleaned out the egr valve but this has has no efect.

i have just have the car back from having a new diesel injector pump and turbo fitted (both tested and working but used) also a new water pump that was causing a very loud noise!!

so its over to you all once again. some one save me from a very good car than has started to become a pain!

when they did the injectors etc was the idle pin moved or stoper?
cannot remember but do they have fuel stopper. like a pin that is electronic, had one on mon when that went it used to cut fuel on idle.

shadwell - do you have any airleaks?

Does your one have a MAF (X25DT engine) or not (U25DT engine)?

i have been told the engine is bmw. the gaskets for the inlet cost a bomb and were for a bmw. how can i check the engine type.

i will have a good listen tomorrow. only thing i have done is replace the jubile clips around the egr valve as they were not tight (but problem was there before) it must be something to do with the idle as on way to work and back the car has been stalling when slowing down.

i been trying different was of slowing down, changing down gears or just useing the brake. ever dipping the cluch does it when slowing!!!

if it was put on tec2 would that help?

just driven home and the car has cut out twice. in was a bu**er to start, i think it fired after seven attempts. i have noticed that there seems to be a miss fire when at idle. some thing is telling me to have to original diesel injector pump refitted? (it was not making a noise as thought) i have also noticed it takes a long time to warm up on the dash temp gauge. could that contribute to the running problem.

once again thanks for any surgestions and help
