mv6 engine oil

I am going to be changing my oil and filter soon on my 99 3.0 mv6. :y
I have just bought some castrol magnatac 5w/30 semi synthetic oil, Is this ok for my engine? ???

I wouldn't use Castrol anything in my engine... It's prone to condensation and mayo in the filler neck ;)

Best oil is GM Semi Synth, bought on trade club (4 for 3), works out about £11 for 5L

same here had loads of mayo in my omega when i used castrol   changed it for gm and loads better

If you've bought it, there'll be no harm in using it, but it will be better and cheaper to go with one of the GM oils next time, if you can get it at trade club prices.

Personally, I wouldn't even abuse my lawnmower with that stuff.

Might be worth getting some GM stuff, given the time of year (cold, engine more prone to condensation in the breathers), and using that Castrol in warmer months.
