I remember these from my youth. Comstar wheels and about 43 BHP if memory serves. Nice enough, but not a replacement for the 400/4 which I owned back in the mists of time..... :y

Yep, them's um Opti!

Was your 400/4 the one with the snake-like (sorry, couldn't think of a better description!) 4-1 exhaust?  Gorgeous bikes them, but prices are through the roof now

Yep. That's the one. I took off the original silencer and replaced it with a "Dunstall power pipe". Made no difference whatsoever to the power output....................but sounded soooo much better. :y :y

Ooooohhh!  Did it not break about with the fuel-ing, or as it ok?  Bikes of them vintage don't normally like having their exhausts "messed about" with?  The Motad on mine has a flange inside to (apparently) make it as restrictive as the "stock" exhaust, so you don't need to mess about with the carb jets.  Sounds nice - well, as nice as a 400 superdream ever can I suppose...  ;D

You can't whack them shifts!  Are they 12hr shifts?  Plenty of time for 'vanning it then I take it?

Most are 12 hrs, just a few 9 hrs. (5 days in, 3 days off, 6 days in, 5 days off, 3 days in, 6 days off) Not too bad for 'vanning, but have to work around SWMBO's job too.  :y :y

That must be like working part time, got any Jobs?.......... :D :D :D

Shifts can be blessing, can also be a pig. Mine are 10 hour shifts, 3 days on 3 days off. Works out at 15 days a month  :D

Slightly longer than normal day, so not too bad.

Sods law always family/friends/oof events going on at weekends when I'm shifted on, but having week days off is great, everyone else is at work!  ;D

Tunnie - if I can ask, what is it you do at Sky?

I only ask because a friend of mine should be interviewing for a software engineer role in the network strategy team.. and if you're anywhere near him, I should probably warn you..  ;D ;D ;D

What area of the company? We tend to have network strategy in each key area.

I'm in Mobile side of things, support all mobile apps (except SkyGo) TV streaming to mobile operators, iText broadcast & some behind scene setups which are used internally only. Some of the feeds i support go to trains, airports and stations as well.  :)

The most I could figure out from the ad is that it's in the "Telecomms" area - job listings always seem to be so vague :)

I've never done a rolling shift like that, but work with plenty who have. It seems to be a b4ll ache as it takes weeks before you get a complete week end off.

It's still early days yet with these shifts, we've only just done a complete cycle of them. So far, the general feeling is that they're OK but they're a bit all or nothing, ie in work for a fortnight with 3 days off or off for a fortnight with 3 day in. We'll get used to them, anything is better that 'double days' (6-2 & 2-10)  ;) ;) ;)

Some months I have hardly any weekend time off, others I do. It can be a downside, but the leave makes up for it.

Take 3 days off, i get the 3 either side off as well (not shift on)

So 3 days leave, becomes 9 when I am not if the office, 6 days booked off becomes 18, and so on! Rather big perk I never realised when taking the job.

Booking a month off here, is not unheard of!

I work 3 out of 4 weekends, but get plenty of weekdays off.My shift rota is 12 shifts in every 28 days,6 of which are weekends.
It does change due to holiday cover though,as I have to cover other peoples holidays and they cover mine.
