Tyre, fuel load, passengers, maintenance history, fuel type, organic bit behind wheel, road conditions, weather....

All have a factor, one day it could be the Ford one day it could be Omega...

Not really no...
Just that the Mondeo produces more power and is like £150kg lighter.
So I was wondering if it was always faster, or just in certain circumstances.

.. and moved. ;)

ST220 has less weight and more power, so it'll be quicker in theory. In practice, depends on auto / manual gearbox, etc.

It's also girl's front wheel drive, so there will be less opportunities where you can put that sort of power down from a standing start without ending up eating hedge, IMHO.

It's also, IMHO, nothing like as satisfying to drive but, if the pub figure means everything, it's faster. ;)

If you want a FAST car, then buy a proper fast sports car rather than a Go-faster version of a saloon car.  ;)

Amen to that. Accelerating is fun but if you've got to lose all that speed before the next bend it's a pointless exercise. ;)

Not sure an ST220 would be my choice of steed, even then. ;)

The Omega might not be quicker, but it would certainly be a more comfortable ride to 60mph  8)

I am in a position to definatively answer this one (although we never, ever stopped at 60mph) ::)

If Dave got good traction - not easy when trying to lay just shy of 200bhp in a hurry - he would command the line for the roundabout (slightly above 60mph ::)).

So, a manual ST220 is quicker to 'a bit more than 60mph' from a standing start than a MV6 auto. But the MV6 auto often was ahead at that roundabout ;)
