Diwali.

Ah, that explains it.. much quieter in Bracknell than it used to be in Slough, mind - you got every occasion celebrated in Slough ;D (Which I have no problem with, really - although I bet last night wasn't much fun, it was peeing it down in Bracknell)

I'll tolerate in on the actual day, and on the Fri/Sat near the date if it falls midweek, but any other time involves me search out the little shits, and ramming a Black Mamba, lit, up their jacksies.

Quite correct Captain in my youth when we were at school we inserted a large banger called a boom IIRC ( which I believe are outlawed now) in a fresh cowpat two of us held a mate down on the floor while another prankster lit the fuse we kept him immobilised until just before detonation at which point we legged it the pore victim did not have time to get up and run for cover before the explosion result he got covered in cow sh!t  ;D ;D ;D fortunately he had a good sense of humour and is still a good pal :y

Just another example of things being spoilt for everybody else. Due to misuse I wouldn't mind if they were banned full stop. Something else that might become socially unacceptable like drink driving, wife beating etc etc.
