My 18 yr old daughter passed her test a week or so back, and her license arrived this morning...

she's living near Farnham,  working as a live in nanny....

and the family cars include, but are not limited to, at least  1 ferrari,  1 lambo, 1 porsche cayenne...  a grand voyager,  and she's being bought a new beetle.... as a run around...    but is already being let loose in the porsche...  (before she'd even passed her test i might add)

(they can afford the insurance.... indeed, they probably own the damn insurance company.....    )

so....   if you're around Alton,  Farnham, Binsted, Wheatley,  Kinsgley....    area...  on those country back roads....   take a little more care , and watch out for big black porsche cayennes....

you have been warned..... if she totals your miggy,   i'm sorry.... i did my best to warn you.....   i will cry as much as you do...    but i'm not bloody paying for it....

Another dangerous Porsche to look out for around Hampshire, tbh it would be hard to pick her out from the rest  ::) ::)

Actually on today's poo list were 4x4s including one who decided to get right behind me, and I mean less than a metre at 30mph.  He then changed lanes and at the light was within less than a foot of the car in front.  I let him go past and made sure to stay behind him all the way to the M3 and at each light I did what he was doing to the others.  I know he got peeved as he was watching and adjusting his mirrors.  I just smiled and waved each time ;)

They don't need the rest of those cars "testing", do they?  :-*

Apart from the Voyager.. Tested one of those from one side of Canada to the other. Think I've done my fair share.

Meanwhile, I'll give that area a wide berth. :-X

I find a few squirts of screen wash (to clear my screen ::)) also gets tailgaters backing off, and well p*$$ed off if the vehicle in question is black and recently polished.  :y

A few of us live in the area so will keep a special watch. I am sure she will be responsible. My son's girlfriend is a nanny in Ascot and similar situation re.cars. She needs to makesure she is insured as some will not think to carefully aboutrestricitions on powerful cars - age and years since test paased. If there is a problem she will be on her own you can bet.

Oh,  when she's concentrating on driving, she'll be careful, and responsible and generally fine.    however,   she is rather easily distracted,  and a little bit of a ditzy moo.... on occasion....   and 3 small children , (her charges as a Nanny)  is one hell of a distraction.....

i am extremely proud of her passing her test on 2nd attempt....   and being hard working, and caring and so on....      generally she is a daughter to be mightily proud of....

but i am terrified of her driving, and there's no way on god's green earth she's EVER driving my Miggy.....

she needs to ask the question about insurance on the cars to be sure - I would be surpised if insurance companies would agree to such a young driver. If certificate says Any Driver it will probably say subject to restrictions.

Agreed. Especially as she probably doesn't have her own policy to provide third party cover regardless. Then again, there might just be a stupid excess for young drivers. If so, I'd want to clarify with them who gets to pay that if there's an accident which is her fault. :-\

I occasionally tailgate for that very reason. Saves topping up my own screenwash ;D

Piss taking aside, I'd say I am a very courteous, unselfish, calm road user (though not without my faults, obviously).

But when dealing with idiots on the road, if they they choose to be selfish, arrogant, me-me-me tossers, then all bets are off.

Unfortunately, we don't have enough plod, and those we do have seem to be evermore going for easy targets - mobile users, speed etc - rather than harder-to-prove-to-meet-KPIs bad driving.

their 21 year old son (from first marriage)  has a Lambo....  and has been driving it for 3 years.....   (18th birthday present....  )

i'm hoping they've got it covered.....    they do seem switched on regarding insurance..... they forwarded me their travel and health insurance details before they took her abroad for the first time....

(in the last year , she's been to Egypt, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, Germany twice,  and Belgium, with them......   )

right now i'm more worried about income tax...   and making sure it's being paid....  she's going to get a horrid shock if not.....
