If its stalling with no throttle input then that points towards an idle air issue.

I assume when its not stalling that the idle is even?

Given the fact that its a digital type fault (either there or not!) then it points to a valve of some sort and I can think of two that might do this and they are:

1) Idle control valve
2) EGR valve

So I would be cleaning them both well and potentialy blocking the EGR off (if its not already done)

TheDaddy has now cleaned and lightly oiled ICV.

No EGR on it (repositioned purely to keep ECU happy, manifold blocked off (and SAI removed), can't remember how plenum blocked)


TheDaddy described to me that it cuts out on overrun at high revs, even when changing gear, and letting clutch out again seems to 'bump start' it.  My initial reaction was crank sensor, based on symptom, and confirmed with a code 19 when checked.  However, even with new crank sensor, it has reoccured.  Hopefully the ICV cleaning has resolved, but its intermittent.

I have not experienced this fault whilst driving his car myself, so may be something lost in translation...

No further duff crank sensor signals stored.  So I doubt it.

Cutting out on gearchange could still be idle valve, the throttle valve slamming shut would soon starve the engine of air (the idle valve should open very fast as the throttle closes)

Thanks to TheBoy for explaining the issue and what we have covered so far.

I think from all of the above - I need to give the car a week and see if the problem does re-occur since cleaning the ICV. I will keep running tests for any new codes.

Have a long trip this weekend, so hopefully a good opportunity to test and see how it goes.
Will report back on this.

Classic icv IMO.

And the Black Beastie has had another update by the force of the Darth Loo-knee. 

Nipped upto to Stoke and Daz kindly accomadated me.

Planned to swap out the radiator + Power Steering Pump and doors from his spare MV6,
but mid point I decided to take the front wings and bonnet + headlights as mine were shot.

Time was are enemy on the day - but Daz used the force and we got the job done.
 



Steering now is pot on. Previously like driving a cart on low revs turning.

Hoping the replaced radiator sorts out the running temp issues I had.
On run up - normal running at around 76 and fans came on at around 97.5.
On the run home she sat at 76 all the way.
Heated up sligthly coming into town but fans cut in to cool down.
So seemingly doing as expected and so will monitor.

No further stalls since cleaning out the ICV - Have a spare kindly lent if problem repeats to test.

Car looks great with the new doors. Think I prefer the MV6 door cards instead of the elite,
but have both now so will see how I feel and can swap if I want.
Will need to swap over the passenger mirror as the motors are gone on the new door.
Also bonnet fits better than the orignal.

That was discussed - would of asked Daz to sort his and I would of had that - it "was" a spankin car, but have spent the money on my engine, so will stick with the Black Beastie to the end.
