Too many tubes at the back of my engine
« on: 30 October 2011, 18:12:08 »

Hi,

I've almost completed replacing my rocker cover gaskets, sparks & leads, dis pack, broken rocker cover ( damn that stupid wire) and I have now got 5 tubes where there are only 4 pipes to stick them on at the back of the breather thing over the plenum.

I have two from the y split, and then two more which fit the middle two pipes, but then I have a shaped tube coming from a little device on the back left (135) bank which is too small to fit any of the 4 pipes on the plastic bit over the plenum. The device has a tube which goes off towards the driver wheel, the tube I'm confused about and an electrical connector.

I'm assuming I've just missed connecting to something but I can't see what it should connet to any ideas please?

Regards

J

+1 for auto box breather - shouldn't be connected to anything.

It couldn't be the twisty little pipe to the rear multiram could it?

Any chance of a picture?

The device is the purge valve, one pipe as you say goes to the charcoal canister in the driver`s wing area, the other should be connected to the breather box, looking from front, the 3rd outlet counting from L to R

Auto box breather should be fixed pointing up towards the inside of the bonnet at the rear of the breather box

Ah yes - that makes a lot more sense.  Sorry if my suggestion was misleading!

Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies. It is indeed the autobox breather I remember it just being cable tied at the back of everything. Usually I take pictures as I work but I didn't have one for this pipe.

My car is now back in action thanks to the forum, guides, and Twiglet. Along with good advice from peeps at the Essex meet :y

Thanks all  ;D

The biggest is the autobox breather and it hangs loose but I clipped mine to the bulkhead for safety.
:o Begs the question of why you did not mark them though? Maybe next time eh?  :y
