I disconnected my battery with the doors locked and then the bonnet slammed down. I tried putting the key in the door and turning it to no avail. I know it's supposed to be hard, but I think it's going to break before I ever get it to turn.

Does anyone remember which way it should go? Clockwise or anticlockwise?

clockwise with a lot of force    also whilst doing it try opening doorhandle seems to make it easier    good luck

Clockwise from memory,it won't unlock properly,you need to apply key pressure and at the same time try the handle

in other words the pin doesnt come up inside the car

No that didn't work. I even tried with a pair of pliers, it's well and truly stuck. Last time I used it was about three years ago.

Time to call the fourth emergency service ;-(

how about lub'ing the barrel  The key should work, having said that though I tried years ago to get into my deadlocked car that had a flat battery & there was no way the key would open the car. In the end I opened the boot (preface lift saloon) popped the boot light & connected A N Other battery to the wires, the fob then opened the car as normal. It's a good idea to use the door locks every now & then.

If it's an estate you can just crawl through the car can't you? Or borrow a small child from a friend or neighbour!
Yes, just squirt the lub in where the key goes, preferably with tha straw that generally comes with a new can. WD40 would be better than nothing, however something like chain lub would be better.

Well The RAC got here in the end and opened it by wedging the door at the top and using a thick wire to pop the button.

Will still have to get the locks sorted.

Yep, same has happened to me a couple of times recently and with the same problem of the key refusing to open the door and the only way was as described, by wedges in the door and accessing the pin,luckily it was the same guy from Green flag so he made it look easy getting in,like they say practise makes perfect

I never enjoyed doing lock out jobs... Even bought a set of "skeleton Jigglers" for deadlocked Vx motors
