Ungrateful kids
« on: 31 October 2011, 22:00:26 »

Been staying in Brackley for the weekend, and Grandson is all into this Halloween lark, so pumpkin is duly carved and put in the window. He goes off trick or treating with a strict code of practice. :y
Daughter has got a bucket load of sweets for those that call on us....half of Brackley must have knocked on the door...all very polite and say thankyou..........that is, until the sweets had been hit for six and some young girl about 7 or 8 tells my wife..'I don't like anything in there, haven't you got any more' :o
Wife says..'No, thats all we have got left now'......to which the girl says ' You should blow your pumpkin out then'
Talk about ungrateful.... her parents never said a word, so wife just shut the door >:(

Used to get 'em coming round in Slough when I lived there - when told I had no sweets I usually got "Got a fiver then?"..

I also distinctly remember the lot who came 'round two weeks early because "Well we're on holiday in Tenerife on the 31st. Got any now? Or money?"

And the lot whose father wanted to borrow a bottle opener so he could open the bottle of red wine he was clutching and drink it on his way 'round with them  :o

We're very fortunate that where we live the kids are generally polite. SWMBO normally makes biscuits and even the parents ask for some ::)

I had a go at scaring the kids this year.  The wife gets lots of American Candy over on her trips so we get lots of visitors.  I hide behind the door and as they ring the doorbell my hand comes shooting out of the letterbox and I shout "Whada you want?!"

It scares the parents too  ;D ;D

We get a good few round here, never had any problems and lots of thank yous, even from the older ones. I used to have a load of spooky stuff up and a speaker so I could scare the little darlings as they came up the drive.... :D :D :D  No time to do that today and now that Miss Vamps goes out not really much point, only had 1 little boy in tears tonight, he was scared of our big old fat soft lab who likes to join in answering the door... :D :D :D
Still got a few sweets left and Miss Vamps came in with loads of sweets and some money.... :y

Forgot to add in my OP, but when Daughter came out from work at Bicester Village, she was confronted by a women and a young girl about 5yrs old. 'Trick or treat' says the girl.......'Sorry, I haven't got anything on me' says my daughter.
'What about money', says the girl. 'Any loose change' says the mother  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( Daughter walked off.
She reckoned the accent of the mother was that of certain Tarmac Driveway installers, if you get my drift ;) not wishing to tar (excuse the pun) everybody with the same brush

We don't hold with Halloween, it's a dodgy American import so we just let them knock until they get sick and leave ;)
