The Stone Roses
« on: 01 November 2011, 19:48:06 »

I did not like there music at all the first time.. Now I did like alot of the Indie scene (not sure what they call it now) in the early 90's, but can't believe they have sold out within minutes :o
I wonder if Happy Mondays, The Farm, The Charlatons etc will be returning???

Bloody love them and was lucky enough to see them at Spike Island in 1990, heady days of loose love and even looser flares! Surprised I came through the escapades of that period relatively unscathed ;D  showed my 8 yr old daughter some roses videos earlier and she looked at me like I was an alien. ;D

Absolutely gutted as the ticket buying systems were a joke so no show for me so far, unless anyone comes across a spare one????

Mate of mine got a ticket, its a bit unreal really how quickly they've gone but I guess they were as big a band as any at the time. Never really thought they -or the Mondays etc-were THAT good myself though liked a fair bit of the stuff from that time. Guess I was just a tad too old for that whole baggy/weekender scene :-[ ;D. Just hope that they arent a disapointment as so many bands are when they reform so much later on. The musicianship may not deteriorate but the vocals and energy tend to :(

With you on that one. Thought it was utter bilge the first time round, but that has been redefined by most of the stuff that gets released these days, and I find myself listening to it now. ;D Must be getting soft in my old age... (reaches for the AC/DC). ;D

Lol, I think being a student in the early 90's and being quite 'green fingered' resulted in me liking it first time round!

I could never quite get past the fact that Ian Brown looks & acts like a prize bell end.. otherwise I might have quite liked their stuff.

;D Good point - back when they were all 'new' I remember preferring Oasis to Blur.. the more antics Liam got up to, the more I preferred Blur.

Mind, I'm sure that's just because Damon Albarn's antics passed me by ;D

But back then I'd much rather have listened to Nirvana over all of them..

Definitely  :y

And just to be different, around the same time you could mostly find me listening to REM, The B52s, Steve Vai and Joe Satriani.. ;D

Still one of my favourites (along with Love Shack, of course): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55oc7mjJDtQ
