« on: 09 March 2008, 16:27:58 »

Looking at a p reg astra 1996 1.6 hatch on ebay. It's a 1598cc but would that be the 8v or ecotec? No underbonnet pics & seller does'nt seem to know.
   Cheers, Guy.

Most likely 8 valve in an Astra F. Some of the more basic Astra G's originally had 8 valve engines.

Looking at it for a mate, would only buy if 8v. Since posting this i've found another the same cc,year model etc & it's ecotec.
Once again not for me (although Astras are good little motors).
Besides the Mig had a machine polish yesterday so it's nearly as clean as the tractor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ::) ::) :D ;D

It's an 8v, loads of work done, miles/mot ok met blue vx alloys. Just found leaky rear wheel cylinder which has knackered the shoes, £32 inc. so all ok. Jacked up in the workshop awaiting parts this w'end (& tax) smooth sweet tight little runner so should last my single Dad mate longer than the Carlton did!! (vandals) (cants)
I gave £275 after a little haggling of course!!! :D
