Weird or what?
« on: 06 November 2011, 20:50:18 »

Having already bought some winter shoes for my car I have been on the lookout for some cheap alloys on ebay. Came across this pair with a 1p start and thought they would do, although no centre caps etc. Then for some reason the bidding went crazy and they ended up at a price that I would never pay for them:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-OPEL-OMEGA-16-INCH-5-FIVE-SPOKE-ALLOY-WHEEL-/130592927549?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e67f1ef3d

so off I went looking for some other and found a similar pair, £40 start and I bid just £40 on it forgot all about it and signed in today to find I had won it for £40. Even if the winner of the other set factored in £30 for postage, this set still costs a lot less.

Why the mad rush to pay over the odds for the other pair?

May have been schill bidding (sller or sellers mates bidding the item up) it happens a hell of a lot on the bay of fleas. ;)

That and I'm sure some people put in silly bids just because they desperately want something - that advert is a better ad than the one you won (I'd have assumed the second ad was only for two wheels when skimming through search results as it only shows two in the picture, for example), which probably also has something to do with it.

Fitting 205 or 215 section tyres to those?

Agree, the first one is picture rich. Maybe thats why?

In response to tyre size, I am going for normal 16 size 225/55R16. It helps with my insurance not wanting an additional premium. Got some mid range tyres for approx £100 a corner earlier on in the year.
