I'm converting the leather interior of an old elite into a sofa and 2 armchairs.

It's going well but I have no idea what to put around the back of the 3 seater (or how to do it) to cover up all the timber...

Anyone else ever done this before?

Has Clarkson asked you to make this for the new series of Top Gear?

Heh heh no Clarkson's not been involved. ages ago I got a hold of a nackered elite for £150 quid. Salvaged the interior and the 18" alloys and rest went to a banger racer. He was supposed to be pulling the engine to give back but the truck he took it away on wasn't MOT'd, he got pulled by the police and the whole lot, truck and omega still on the back got crushed.

Of course, I'd have to find a V8 with a large enough bore for the largest wine bottle I could find, then drive it round for a few years. It'd be a waste to build it with a working engine, after all.

That is very cool.. hmm.. you can pick up RV8 blocks for peanuts, I wonder if the bore is big enough for a standard bottle (I'm not posh enough to go around buying magnums.. )

Thats actually what I was thinking of doing, but with a V6 lump. Are the pots big enough?

Seems like we're in the wrong business. Give them a quick steam clean and chuck a bit of glass on top. That'll be £295, sir.

88.9mm for a 3.5 plus the very rare 4.4 (ozzy job) and 94mm for 3.9/4.0/4.6 as factory blocks.

I seem to recall most 750ml wine bottles being about 75mm (hence why I remember it!)
