the omega is meant to be an auto from the comfort/exec/luxury aspect.

the manual hopefully will be gone soon anyway cos flappy paddles will overtake giving the option of either auto or manual.

god you manual lovers really do annoy me  ;D ;D ;D

Nothing comfort/exec/lux about a gearbox that cant make its mind up  :-X

I suppose it depends whether it's a manual with auto controls or an auto with manual control. I know Smart isn't in quite the same league as a Ferrri, but IMHO  ::) its manual with flappy pedals would have been better as a normal manual.

I wish I'd had more than five minutes in the car to see what it's really like - it's not perfect by any stretch, but around an auto cross circuit banging up and down with the paddles was exceptionally fun. The change from 1st to 2nd at gentle speeds was a bit lurching, though - given the price of the car (if I were buying one, which I doubt I ever could!) I might be a little disappointed really..

Still, better than my kangarooing away in the Porsche with a manual box  :-[ :-[ :-[

Given the choice manual it would have been, I think there are a few about but I have never seen one. They are a nice car and great to drive but the cost of ownership slaughters your bank account, mpg could be bought down to single numbers with ease and at 140 a litre that could mean 15 miles on a tenner.

as far as im aware this is true of the auto and manual variants. :y

It'll knock it out of top lock-up on a down hill stretch, but over all they're not that bad! Check the level/get the software updated/I think learn to live with it  ;) ;) ;)

This may or may not be the cause, but I am beginning to wonder whether the door stay is the cause. The noise I am getting sounds just the same as the clicking sound as you open and shut the door. The bolt in the stay is not the correct one and when I loosened it the other day the sound did not seem as loud.

You are forgetting that the Omega manual box is a really horrible lump of junk.  I'd quite like a manual Omega, but I just couldn't tolerate the R25/R28 box.
