Possible gearbox/torque converter/diff noise....
« on: 20 November 2011, 10:13:34 »

Hello,
i've not had chance to get it on ramps or anything yet but i bought the gold facelift 2.6 the other day.

Theres a noise sounds either like a tyre rubbing so different noise at different speeds but something i noticed was that when manually over riding down to 3rd/2nd/1st... when you take it back up the gbox into drive, it'll hold the gears randomly untill you accelerate to around 3000rpm when it should just change up more-or-less straight away if its over 2000 when you move it back up towards drive

thanks in advance-i've been out of the fold for a while so be gentle lol

I tried to change oil on mine, there was no difference. Also tried to put some Lucas oil stabilizer, this time noise was better, but anyway it can be heard. So I gave up and get new diff, just have no time to change it. This time will put some molly slip to make sure it will last long  :y I think i broke my diff because i towed another car (1500kg!) for about 60 miles.

lol the diffs should be fine towing another car, I've seen an omega push another car and the clutch went before anything else happened. Another diff it is  then once I've had it on a lift to confirm. Thanks. Alex
