ex plod cars
« on: 13 March 2008, 10:55:42 »

Hi all,
I'm after a vehicle for work, I'm a joiner thats mainly in a workshop but sometimes out on site, I have an astra van, but thats dying on me.
So I'm after an estate now rather than another van.
It'll have to be an estate, and I've been looking out for mv6 spec, as I want something sporty.
A lot of the ones I have seen are ex plod cars, what are the actual differences between a retail mv6 and a plod mv6?
I'm after the mv6 for the slightly more sporty ride, are there any other models that have the same suspension?
Thanks

plod MV6 are actually GLS spec but with HID's

Retail facelift MV6 spec = retail CD spec, but with HID's

plod MV6 tend to have heavy duty springs and a bigger alternator, thats it.

Plods are a mixture of Auto's and manuals.

But you can only get the 3.2 manual in x-plod form  :y

Thanks for the replies so far,
I'm going to have a look at one tomorrow, thats a 2000, and theres another one a little more local thats a 1999, when did the  face lift happen?
I understand there was a mini face lift too, anyone have any details on that?

thanks

I think what Tunnie means is, if you want a 3.2 with 3 pedals it was only available in white with a blue light. Joe Public wasn't given the option.  ;)

i used to serve Paul when i worked up in Blackpool, when i finished in the trade i did a stint in the parts dept.

he is one of the most genuine guys i have met, he would spend a small fortune on his cars he was selling, yes he asked top ollar, but i tell you the cars were mint and if he didnt tell they were ex plod you would never know.....aside from them being white  ;)

everyone used to run for cover, they never wanted to serve him as all the bits he wanted were difficult to find, me i loved it because it was a bit of a challenge

I thought that, but someone on another forum thinks they did 3.2 manual MV6s, just not Elites - I don't believe him, since I've never heard of non-plod 3.2 manuals?

manual box 3.2's were supplied for Police or HMG use only.

However, they did supply colours other than just white!!
