car can't start
« on: 24 November 2011, 19:14:29 »

I recently changed head gasket on mi omega 2.2l (2198cc) 2001 Z22xe, auto. when I remove the timing cover and turning the engine to TDC, the inlet cam mark was slightly off mark ( almost 2 teeth before the mark on the rocker cover; the marks on exhaust cam and crank shaft were exactly matching. So after replacing the head gasket, I put back the timing belt but adjusted the the inlet cam shaft to match with the rocker cover mark. When I tried to start the car it can't start but cranking. Please help, what can I do to sor :-\t out this problem.

thaks, Gibby

I think you have put the cam belt on wrong

You also may have done something wrong when changing the head gasket

have you done this work yourself ?

just check this one if you don't have cable to diagnose your car:

and tell us fault codes you get.

No, you have to read fault codes with diagnostic cable or try Pedal Trick (check the link i gave you before) and tell us these codes.

I don't think anyone on the forum has been able to get codes out of a 2.2 using the pedal trick :(

Don't let that stop you from trying though, it would be good to hear of someone who has :y

Nope ... different links .. :)

Yours was to paperclip which has absolutely NO CHANCE of working on a 2.2 ... second was to pedal trick which just might work .....  unlikely though

and the numbers are completely different :)

Personally I think THIS is the more useful link

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90581.0

but what do I know .. ??   :)

 ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
