Kwik fit insurance fit up
« on: 28 November 2011, 22:23:10 »

took a policy out on an omega 19th sept, just recieved a letter saying they are backdating the policy to the 4th may as the car was already in the household, & stuck Xhundred pounds onto the policy. do they have rights to do this?. the car was insured up until september via AA in the wifes name.
surely this cannot be done?. ???
any advice welcome please.

Never heard of that before. Can't be right. You changed insurance companies and should only pay from the day their individual cover started.

You choose the effective date of your insurance no matter how long you have had the car.

If insurance policies could be legally back dated then nobody would need to buy insurance. We'd wait till we needed insurance & then buy a back dated policy from before we crashed/were burgled/etc
