mumbai calling
« on: 29 November 2011, 09:16:11 »

Hi all, getting really peed off with telephone calls that when you pick up go dead, usually no caller id. Is there anyway to stop them, nearly as bad as british gas etc calling you at meal times.
Already tried the pps thing via bt.

Get TPS registered, but not all of them will abide by it. Will stop 95% of them though.

Well if there is no callerID, don't pick up. Thats what we do at home  :)

I seem to be getting a lot of these lately, they make up about 7 out of 10 of all the calls I get to the house phone.

I do the same as Tunnie, don't pick up if you don't recognise the number. They'll leave a message if it's anyone important (as long as you've got a message service)

My lacky has the same issue and he is TPS registered.  The problem with that solution for my man is that our work numbers dont show on caller ID so if ther are ignored an important call could be missed.

I thought it was universally accepted to just abuse anyone involved in cold calling

We leave the answer phone on all of the time, friends know this and will wait for us to pick the phone up while shouting friendly abuse about picking the phone up, or leave a message if we are out.
I will respond to relevant calls and ignore the others, but the number of times the caller hangs up when the answer phone switches in is on the increase. It is funny letting someone rabbit on before you pick up the phone and start speaking to them :y
I work on the premise that if people can't leave a message then it isn't important. :y

Its a power dialler mate - and probably not from uk.  Fraid nothing you or TPS can do about it.  Find shouting "break off" down the phone helps  :) ;)
