cooking with asafoetida
« on: 06 December 2011, 13:43:28 »

As I cannot eat garlic yet love the stuff I am in the process of experiementing with different foods and an internet search came up with this little gem - asafoetida.  It's a middle-eastern spice and I have lots of information I have gleaned off the web but I dont know anybody who has used it in real cooking to give their view on it.

Anyone?  :y

I hope that you know that this is also called 'Devil's Dung' G??? ;D

I haven't used it as I've no trouble eating garlic (even raw) but there seems to be plenty of scope to utilise it in the kitchen;

Yes and many other choice phrases, although it would appear a bit like marmite as in you either love it or hate it as another phrase for it is Food of the God's
