Auto box starting in limp mode
« on: 08 December 2011, 12:59:09 »

Sometimes when starting the engine the box goes into limp mode. To get it out of limp mode it maybe necessary just to restart the engine again. If that does not work after restating 3/4 times then I engage 1st manually & drive a few hundred yds & then restart it. This last option always works. Can anyone throw any light on the problem?

First thing you need to do, read fault codes of engine and auto gearbox. Find someone with tech2 or another diagnostic equipment and scan your car.

Sounds like the classic cam sensor problem on this model, but you need to get the fault codes read first.

If it is a cam sensor is it a major job repairing the fault?

Use English, no text speak which is notoriously difficult to read.
