If its 2.2 ECU, get a OBDII reader on it :)

About the same as it will cost you to buy a good code reader. ;)

Whether a main dealer will interpret the results effectively is a moot point..........

The Boy and Kevin Wood both own geniune VX test equipment (Tech2) and know how to use it.

**UPDATE**
So I finally got a code reader and scanned for codes and got this:

P0727
P1781
P0340
P1700

I cleared these which made the spanner though the car symbol to go out, I scanned again this time no codes were shown.
I then took the car for a drive and the gearbox seemed fine changing up and down with lots of power like it should, the car does run a bit lumpy more than it did before though and is getting harder to start from cold.

What do you guys think?
Once again thanks in advance for your help. Dean

Give the engine a basic service - oil, filters (oil/air/fuel)plugs etc. if its still not running right read codes again.May get something relating to cam sensor/MAF/ Coil pack.

Code 0340 is cam sensor, no signal. That could be the cause of your problems.

Yeah I was thinking about the service as well and coil pack.
Do you think gearbox is alright then? maybe something got messed up abit with the engine swap.

2.2 throttle body and engine management.

Block could be either....

Running "lumpy" after resetting/clearing codes is not unusual at all. The code reset ALSO resets several other things, one of which is the fuel trim. This usually settles down quite quickly as the engine ECU "re-learns" the required settings. In my experience it takes around 5-10 minutes, or a couple of miles, for the "lumpiness" to go and a while longer for the system to fully settle down.

The fact that you've cleared the codes and , other than the "lumpiness" it is running OK is, IMHO, a good thing. Leave it alone for a while and see if any codes recur, (EML light comes back on OR your code reader can read "pending" codes) this will give a far more accurate diagnosis  :y :y

Just my thoughts .. nowt else :)

Do you think gearbox is alright then? maybe something got messed up abit with the engine swap.

A faulty (or failing) cam sensor has been known to cause all sorts of odd gearbox problems on the 2.2s.  Do a search on the forum for lots of info relating to this.  :y

Yeah I'm gonna change the cam sensor as a matter of course, I'm sure it can't hurt :y
