so sad
« on: 10 December 2011, 10:53:01 »

found out this morning that my son's friend returned home from school yesterday to discover his father had hung himself in the garage....15 year old boys just shouldn't have to go through this..such a sad waste of life.
makes me realise that my own personal problems just fade to nothing when a tragedy strikes so close to home.

happens too often - a friend of ours took his own life some years ago leaving young children. He was always the outgoing one at parties but tubed his exhaust into the car and his father found him. Many words and emotions and some not helpful but how many years does it take for  children of 15 to recover from this

An old school friend of mine did this about 15 years ago. :( She was always the bubbly one too. Never seemed to have a care in the world. If there was something fun going on you could count on her to be at the centre of it. A good looking girl with a loving husband too. Then, he came home from work one day and everything had changed. :'(

Unfortunately it is the ones you never expect it from. My brother-in-law did it many years ago, and none of us saw it coming. The family then reproached themselves for him not coming to them asking for help. The thing is you never know, my sympathy goes out to those left behind, time does heal but support is a must in the early WHY stage. :(

Thing is it can happen at any age as well. I've known of people from 18 to 80 do this. Most recently was an old pal of 45 in April .....

i have been down to the deepest depths recently due to mental illness and marital problems and have considered ending it all but the thought of my children has always stopped me. i couldn't bear to let them suffer that.. just too cruel.

That was me 4 years last May  :(

Basicly I walked away because I didn't want my son growing up hateing me for not being there for him.  That was the only reason.
Imo, if you have got sh*t going around in your head, talk about it to anyone.
Just get it off your chest.

Before that, I would make a joke / take the pish out of anybody and everything / no holds barred.
Once you have been there, it changes your perception of life completely  ;)

As busby said .............. its good to talk  ;)

I've suffered losses over the years most recently & worst Mum this July but none through suicide. I've heard that as well as grieving which in itself is painful enough the bereaved have feelings of guilt thinking they should have known & helped, maybe preventing the loss & anger in as much as resenting the loved one for being weak or selfish & leaving loved ones behind.

I've had a few rough trots over the years that some have taken thier lives for so i don't understand the desperation they must feel to drive them that far.

Very sad. Guess the father must have been in a very dark bad place. Really feel for the young lad. I hope he gets all the help he needs to cope with this.

Loss of family and friends is always sad, but in such circumstances there is added confusion and frustration.
