are drive shafts interchangeable

just put in a different trailing arm in my car and it must have been off a different omega as the hub flange doesnt mate up mines a 2.0 16v if i was to get a drive shaft to match the hub will it work with my diff?

I would have thought they were all the same,but Im not certain. :-\
4-pot are different to the V6 in that although the diff end are all the same, the bolt pattern to the hub differs (as the OP has found out)

right mines a 2.0 16v and my shaft doesnt mate up to the new radius arm that i fitted yesterday the stud pattern is different would you be able to suggest what shaft to go for as i really dont want to take the radius arm out again not sure what engine size omega the arm came out of

Seems like your arm is from a V6, so need a V6 driveshaft. Can you post up a pic of the hub end ideally with the PCD of the bolt holes

the drive shaft holes on mine are closer together and on the hub there further apart about a mm also the size of the shaft is smaller than the hub, cant get pics camera broke soz

Here`s a pic of the V6 at the hub end. 6 holes each @ 50mm centres. Is this what your hub looks like

yes it looks like that but on mine you can see the nut in the centre

Crossed wires Gary ;D The pic is of the actual driveshaft end that bolts to the hub. If your hub has the same pattern, this is the one that you need

sorted so will any shaft over 2.5 fit this 3.0?

All V6 shafts are the same bolt pattern. I`ve got one here but postage on "next day" is a bit pricey. Can you source one locally?

hopefully i live in newport and vauxplus is here, so ill ring them tomorrow see if they got one are these shafts just push and pull in the diff to get them out.

Shame you weren`t nearer to Bristol. Decent jemmy bar between shaft and diff will release it, (if not get a garden spade in there for better leverage). Push-fit the replacement, make sure it goes past the circlip in the diff :y
