NCDC 2013 Radio safe ?
« on: 10 December 2011, 23:17:06 »

Just wired my headunit/screen/amp/speakers up and connected them to 12v supply in order to attempt to test the system. While Im happy to report that the previous problem of no volume control, due to front panel not put back correctly has been cured,I cant test much in the way of functionality due to "radio safe" message on screen.
I thought these didnt require a code etc. as long as the screen and HU were kept together.I did have the HU connected and working before the screen. Have I inadvertently disconnected on from the other ? :-\ :'(

Are you sure you have connected up the CANL and CANH pins across all of the devices?

HU pin 32 to Screen pin 10 (Green wire)
HU pin 33 to Screen pin 11 (White wire - occasionally Yellow)

Not sure at all tbh. :-[ ::)
Although, the loom which goes to the screen plug has never been disturbed.Would that mean HU to screen is properly connected ?

Just thinking aloud here as we got rid of our test rig for those years ago

Radio shoud only need Permanent, ignition and earth, but think the display had to have all of the necessary lives connected in order to function and communicate with the head.

Probably right.May well have ommited to connect something. The thing Im concerned about is,will it be ok when installed in a car or will it now be permanently "safe". I dont have a Bose equipped car to test it in at the moment, although I may find the answer by trying it in any Omega ? Not sure tbh.May try it when I have time next week. :-\

As long as screen and display are kept together, you you should be able to power them up in a car without the pairing code being lost. However, if the head sees another display, or vice versa, then it may well go into its lockdown mode - so just be carefull.

Shouldn`t do - its only the later models that have a full CAN link between the Audio and vehicle ECU`s, CD30/70 etc - The NCDxxxx just had a partial CAN links between the Head, screen and telematics (if fitted) and could certainly be run as a standalone system
