First thing I would do, is ring the local authority up and report the pothole. Leave it 28 days and if the pothole is still there, send them the bill for repairing the wheel!! ::) :y

I can't see how that makes any difference tbh. That is one hell of a hole to do that damage, imagine if that had been a motorbike, that could have been fatal.  They have a duty of care to make sure the roads are SAFE at the end of the day.

But that's my opinion ;D

You've got nothing to lose though :y

That damage is light compared with mine last yr
It was so bad it took out the nearly new tyre as well (huge blob on sidewall)
But I must confess I was running on 5psi less in tyres to help with grip in snowy conditions
I wrote the wheel off and tryed to get a single replacement but no joy
Wheels are 18" Irmscher Sportstars
In desperation I took the wheel to Brian of "The Wheel Specialists" of Garforth nr Leeds
In short they sorted it and all that is left of the damage is a slight depression on the extreme inner rim
I've run on it since last winter without any problems
From my point of view an absolute great result :y :y :y
