Sorry to be pessimistic, but watch out for pickpockets and distraction muggings.
My wife went with a family party of girls, two in wheelchairs, and was the victim of a not too violent but extremely distressing mugging within 20 mins of venturing into the city centre. Lost her purse from a zipped and hidden pocket when someone 'accidentally' trod on one of the party's feet, and she got done in the confusion that followed.
The police immediately blamed gangs of East European family gangs who have flocked to Eire in recent years.
All cards etc. were cancelled immediately as we had Sentinel protection, (excellent), but very inconvenient and she lost £300 in Euros and £100 in Sterling.
Be careful, but you'll have a great time. Very friendly city.

Thanks, yes I have heard about the Eastern European problem, apparently it happens usually around where the hen/stag night parties gather, pick-pocketed when they have had a few.  :-/ :y
