Another case of one issue over more than one thread. Doesn't help to diagnose with only half the story.... :-\

Apologies for the P1700 - please disregard, this was my failing memory, and this code hasn't been logged.

Code logged : P0730 - Incorrect Gear Ratio
Normally indicative of failing/failed thrust washer

I think we have debated this from several angles - before gearbox dismantling etc - change the crank sensor - I am sure if I check back on my posts I had this code and the 1700 before we came to conclusion it was gearbox getting wrong message on engine speed.
Question posed was do crank sensors break down over time giving these intermittent fault conditions - no conclusive further info so remains a theory.

Well, I had hoped you might bother to find the relevant links and post them for a complete picture....? Esp as you can't remember the details correctly either. Bloody wild goose chase again.

Then add in my memory issues confusing things further and we've got no chance  ::)  ;D
