Display on?
« on: 18 December 2011, 19:21:57 »

I've got Traceys Mini facelift MV6 estate here to take for test this week. She popped over to bet the buggy out & noticed the dash display is on. Tried starting the car & switching off again but it still glows away festively! It's the display that only uses half the screen & smaller characters...you know what i mean.

  Any ideas please? Guy. :y

When you take the key out of the ignition the centre section should 'pop out'. Until it pops out the W line stays live.

(in the days of dynamos the W line was used to power up the field coils. It lives on now to power the auxiliary circuits...........)

Just been out & started her up...sounds lovely, i've forgotten how sweet they are but when you pull the key out the display goes out but comes on again a few seconds later. Same thing happens when you lock the car & looking in from outside, display goes out but comes back on?

Make sure you get a distictive "click" when you remove the key otherwise some circuits remaine energised

Hi Jaime. It's got the Onstar Phillips Bose head unit with the big volume knob that seems to run an old phone system. Been out & started the car again, let her run for a while & the display has finally gone out & stayed out..just checked 20 mins later.

  Hopefully just a temporary glitch.

The display will also come on if the radio is switched on - so could be an issue with the radio possibly.

If it happens again pull the radio - but check you have the radio & CD Changer codes first!

Ah, CCRT700, not the most reliable unit :(

If you have the codes, pull the radio out for a few hours, tends to fix most glitches on that unit
