Former Liverpool footballer Alan Hansen has apologised after describing black players as "coloured" during a debate on Match of the Day.
Hansen angerred viewers after he referred to black players as "coloured" when discussing the race row threatening to engulf the sport.
At the time he said: "There's a lot of coloured players in all the major teams and there's a lot of coloured players that are probably the best in the Premier League."
Hansen has now apologised "unreservedly" for using the term.
He said: "I unreservedly apologise for any offence caused. This was never my intention and I deeply regret the use of the word."

I still remember sitting in a disciplinary hearing years ago with a manager who said she was uncomfortable with the member I was representing using the word black.
He was using it to describe himself.

Although we will never know the full story, that Liverpool bloke copped it hard. Over harsh IMHO, but then I guess thats because he doesn't play for England or Man Utd.

The FA happily backed that retard Rooney over being a bad tempered prat.  It needs consistency.  I think being racist is unacceptable. But I also think giving another player a good kicking just because you are a useless player yourself is equally unacceptable.  Both need to be entirely stamped out.

Imho, thats the main problem in most walks of life.  No tinker knows where they stand anymore.

#2.   If someone was called white c**t and kicked up this amount of fuss, they would be laughed out of court.
On a football pitch, you have 22 pumped up blokes kicking a pigs bladder around for 90 minutes trying to win a game.  You have 5, 10, and in some cases 70,000 fans screeming for you and your side.  And the opposition screeming against you.  Players wind each other up so to try and put each other off there game. There are no "queensbury rules" out there.  Its the nature of the beast   
But imo, words are just that ........... words.  Said abused player would be better off giving people like Terry and Suarez (liverpool player) some abuse back / making him look like a total c*ck in front of his team mates in the process.  Just like I and many more was taught to do when we was kids.
Imho, the real racists are poeple like those who attacked Stephen Lawrence (on going case so i'll say no more).  If what we here in the media is true then these 2 deserve to die
