2.6 V6 Estate Elite 2002 Alternator bolts
« on: 24 December 2011, 14:03:59 »

Can someone tell me what size Torx socket is needed to remove Alternator and tensioner pulley assembly above it please on a 2.6 V6 Estate Elite 2002. Ive got a set of torx sockets but they dont go big enough so want to buy the right one for this job only.

No idea of the specific Torx, but this set http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/pro44-14-pce-tx-bit-set?da=1&TC=SRC-torx will cover all your Omega needs - sometimes you need to double up on some tools.  ;) ;)

Halfords sell a small rack of female torx sockets E6-E16 for around £15 they will fit virtually all the torx bolts on an Omega, plus they have a lifetime guarentee.

Auxbelt Tensioner bolts into head are usually  E14 socket
Alternator is the same iirc but one is the opposite way around so an 11 or 12mm (off the top of my head) spanner is needed for that one.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for response. It was an E14 (which I already had) but bunged up with grit/rust/crap etc so needed a bit of persuading on! All swapped over and I took the opportunity to fit the new knock sensor as well so all good.
