Never in 25yrs of driving...
« on: 24 December 2011, 18:43:58 »

...have I ever before had the steering on the endstop of opposite lock when there is no snow and ice about :o

Mind you, it was when in snapped back, and overshot that I filled my pants - by this time I was fast approaching the roundabouts exit, which was much narrower target ;D

Ahhh the Linglong sling along years, oh how i "miss" them.... pffforkme!

Catching the slide is one thing, sorting out the mess after it is quite another. Pendulum effect is it? Did you bang your head?

I fully agree Mr Gixer, clearly haven't been putting enough effort in all these years ;D

On non-icey roads, I've never had a RWD not respond to opposite lock to the point you run out of lock. Have obvious had this arsing around in the snow before, but this was a dry warmish day, roads marginally damp, and with no not much provocation.

Maybe I've never really had *truely shite* tyres before  :-\

Albs - wasn't what I would call a "Senator Fishtail" ;D.  But it needed what seemed like forever on full opposite lock. Obviously when it did sort its life out, it snapped back far quicker than I could turn the wheel, but wasn't as dramtic (apart from the narrow width of exit) as the first.  Scary enough for my tail pipe to chew a hole in the gusset of my smalls ;D

Personally, timing of the parts becoming available aside, i was/am still dubious about fitting my irmscher kit etc until used to the tyres and conditions being sensible.

I realise yours was a needs must situation, but decent tyres are top priority young man. No good fitting spsngly chavy trinkits all over the car, then spinning the thing into a ditch or barrier.

I dunno, bloody kids today, Chav first, safety second. (Sigh...) ;D

I've just had to put on a full turn of opposite lock after a slightly enthusiastic junction exit on the way home. Woman was less than impressed...
