Our ATS's windy guns knock off at f***ing tight. They tightened my wheel nuts up on one occasion, the next day I bent my whel brace trying to undo the buggers. I'd to drive down there & get 'em to slacken them off. Lucky I wasn't on the motorway in the piddling rain! >:(

In todays "where theres a blame theres a claim" culture it would be interesting to see what would happen if the muppets had not torqued up the wheel nuts as per makers spec. and it caused a failure of wheel security :-?

We had a juddering come through the steering a while back so when i got to the next drop which was 500yds from when the juddering started the drivers mate i was with noticed some fluid on the floor so igets down there and crawled under turns out to be steering fluid leaking out so we called DAF aid out...he cranks the cab forward finds the union joint on the power steering loose tightens it up and refills the system takes it for a test drive round the block comes back and says it dont feel right so cranks the cab forward and looks around the engine by this time i`m stood next to o/s front wheel and it looks like its tilted so i point this out and he jacks the wheel up and looks underneath his face goes white and tells me the ball joint is missing!!! i`m pissing meself the d/mate is nearly choking on his coffee the cust gave us you could move the wheel left to right about 5-10 inches....the gaffer got the bill 3 days later from DAF £2,500 in recovery and repairs apparantly we driven with this fault for more than a day according to them....I had defected said wagon the night before with an amber brake warning light  that would not go out only to be told thats ok you can drive on that for 10,000 miles its just a brake pad sensor warning?????Now top that for a gaffer putting his foot in it and putting said vehicle on the road good job i kept my copy of the defect notice said gaffer is now having to go through disciplinary procedure and retraining as he holds the only cpc for the depot..... ;) ;)
