Couple of local members have the usual oil in plug wells miss fire issue.

Ime plug leads will be fubar as well, as once the oil is removed and the heat gets into the oiled plug leads they brake down and miss fires return later anyway. Depends how bad the oil leak is I suppose, but if there's a misfire then plug leads must be affected....

So, question is, change the leads while it's apart? ... or see if they behave once the oil is removed?

I would change them personally, but then there's the annoyance of un numbered and even length leads where as the omega ones are shorter on the drivers bank to account for the shorter run the dis on that side. Is there a set of leads available specific for omega, as opposed to generic v6 ones? Or is it worth fitting used?

I presume GM are still rediculous money btw...?

Thanks Rob, they appear to show correct/shortening lengths unless that's some sort of generic picture. Fitted something of similar price from ec to my old 2.5 cdx. Seemed ok, if that's them.

As a thought, would the leads for the Ford Cologne lump be suitable? Plugs on those are outside the heads, and distributor sits roughly where the dis pack lives

but its plugs are easily accessible & don't require the extended plug caps  I doubt the dizzy/DIS pack connections are  the same either.

The ford jobs wont fit (thankfuly as there not great leads and not designed fo such high voltages).

In my expeience, the leads are generaly ok and after cleaning cause no further trouble but, I do have a spare set of beru leads just in case.

Well, we had Radar round today. Always a pleasure.
 Very slight Oil on drivers side, water on the pass side, with pot 4 lead stuck so firmly to the plug that the gm plug puller slipped off. Had to get my hook nose pliers under it to pull the lead head up and out. Immediately showed a split boot, loads of water residue right up inside the the plug cap, and the lead to the cap join fell apart reveal ing scorching and blackness.
 New euro car parts leads fitted. Pleased with those, bar couple of inches too long on the pass side which looped out to back of the dis fine, they fit quite well.
 Hose on the windscreen and scuttle once re built revealed water pooring in where the plastic scuttle meats the metal part of the scuttle drain so the back of the pas side cam cover was getting soaked. Sealed with mastic and see how that goes. 6 hours including a drive to the other side of Reading to e.c.parts to get leads. Returned to find the throttle body water pipe had filled the plug well with water again. Ffs.

All done now though.
