Ok it's got worse now! I have bubbling coming out of the header tank. I filled it to the cap with water and it's like there air being blown through it I'd now defo say it's the head gasket. I'd say this is what was wrong with the heater. That's £650 down the drain.

Still does not give a real indictaion of headgasket.

You should NEVER fill it to the top as you effectively now have no expansion capability for the sealed system.

You also have to consider that if there is a leak when hot that water gets in, as it cools, it will pull air in.

Saw a guy on " The Garage" (Discovery channel) doing a blown head gasket test.

He ran the engine, drew off some coolant and tested it for C02. Seems like a quick test that should not cost  too much even at your local VX dealer.

Hey guys. Yes I heard about the carbon test. One of our fitters showed me it yesterday but he didn't have time to do it and my garage does not have one, cos he says head gaskets are straight forward. Hey and it a head messer alright no I didn't get it sorted,it's been like it for well over a year but slowly getting worse. Hey red I'm in enfield London it won't let me change my profile info on my iPhone so I'll do it later, no sure why it's not on there. Glad you said it tho thanks. I'm working in the Olympics at the mo I drive diggers so I'm gonna see if I can find a garage around here can do the carbon test, then I'll know for sure? Saying that if there's anyone about that can help I would rarely appreciate it. Thanks guys.

Hey guys! I put a bottle of steel seal in a week ago. Thought I'd try it. Any way after following the procedure on the bottle I now have a heater.. Yh it started to work. It still had a bit of pressure in the system so I've put another bottle it which I does recommend for this size of engine. Saying that the heater is now working tell me it's working. Just wanted to let everyone know.
