Apparently, we all now know how to change a clutch after 4 minutes so I can concentrate on the 5 minute 30 second video on how to change a cambelt! 

What is the point in this video. If you're already a mechanic you know how to do it; if you're a novice you're just left even more confused than if you hadn't watched

Fundamentally he does nothing wrong. There is a lot of missed bits like undoing all the bellhousing bolts and associated periferals to remove first. Would suggest what he has done there is ab out 2 hours work really.

But yes I think he is trying to be a showman. Must be an american 

Have to watch with no sound at work so may have missed a few bits.

haha yes he is a Texan... I can't laugh at this as my g/f is too 

I was bored last night so I went through and watched him replace break pads and discs (which Americans apparently call rotars  )

now i'm no mechanic but Im pretty sure you are meant to grease everything... he don't do any of that 

just thinking this is a bit dangerous as there are some people who will follo it to the letter and not realise theres actually more to do

Doing discs and pads there's very little you 'need' to grease .. in fact, if the calipers are either dual acting or not in need of attention single acting, you can get away with no grease at all.

Brakes might squeal if the anti squeal shims need help, but nothing will explode

Still, I watched his clutch video - clearly a very easy car to work on (you can't do that on the MR2, for example, as you need to drop the engine off the LHS mount or the box will only move 1/2" before it hits a chassis member) but he did cover all the steps in a somewhat wham-bam manner. Definitely not a tutorial video, you're right.

You can tell the guy is an expert but I honestly don't think these videos are helpful to anyone.

I prefer to watch the real time (or close to it) so I can see the problems that occur as opposed to this wham-bam ''clip''.

Imports are surprisingly popular in the US though.. Plus a modern import with a tiny inline-4 has a lot more space to work on it than a (new) domestic with a big V8 or V6

what happened to the gm idea of the bellhousing cut out, where you changed the clutch by removing the spline from the end of the gearbox??
