X20XEV Valve Seal Replacement
« on: 15 January 2012, 06:30:46 »

Hi!

Is there a link with pix about valve seal replacement on a X20XEV Omega engine? Im planning to replace them since Im having to much excess oil coming out of the breather line to the TB. I have cleaned and serviced all necessary components as well.

Thanks

you need valve remover kit, take the top off and remove the valve's keeping them in order on a side out of the way, then in the tool kit the is the seal remover, use that and they come out easy, wile you have the top off can valve cut and clean the valves for good clean fit. get some cutting compound and a valve tool to do the job, also need new gaskets on refit and if not done change cam belt etc (Kit). water pump belt adjuster. will save you doing it at a later date., somtimes the seals pop out when you take out the valves but most are stuck in pace with burnt oil holding them in.

I thought that leaky valve stem seals would lead to excessive oil burning, not excessive oil through the breather system.

'Heavy breathing' surely is more related to piston ring problems and/or bore wear?

Thats what I was thinking. Oil in the breather system would suggest somethings pressureising the block/head. Unless it's something silly cheap/easy, I'd swap the engine. x20xev aren't fetching much.
