I am continuing work on 'Little Z' my new dinghy which I am building out of plywood. She is a forerunner to my future project (in a few years) which will be called 'Big Z' (Its all to do with the film Surf's Up and the fact that the design of the big boat is called the Penguin)
The dinghy is an 11 footer plywood construction which when wood, sails, paint and epoxy, etc are taken into account it will have cost me about 250-300 quid!
Big Z is a 21ft trailer sailor which I am considering. Will take about £2K to build (compared to about 15-20K new) should have it done in a year once I start. I have also been looking at another design which is quicker to sail but bigger and more comfortable yet only another k or so more expensive to build. Only concern is the width which at 2.83m (9'3") I think is too wide to legally trailer around the UK without police escort, need to keep on my research before I decide.
I have all the hull of the dinghy together now its just a case of getting off my arse every 6 hours to slap on another coat of epoxy .... on with the gloves
