Secret plan revealed for new EU taxes on Britain
« on: 19 January 2012, 22:44:24 »

Germany and France have opened new battlefront with Britain over a demand for new EU powers to set business and energy taxes on top of their push for a controversial Europe-wide levy on financial transactions.

A confidential Franco-German paper, seen by the Daily Telegraph, reveals that the financial transaction tax is seen in Berlin and Paris as the first step to giving the EU a new power to "coordinate" taxation.

I would say they'd be remiss in not seeking additional power as this is the only logical way 'Brussels’ can consolidate their hold over all member states while building the framework for a European super state the main driver of which will be Germany.

This, in my view, is a very dangerous situation and I’m dismayed by the way our politicians are bumbling into it (by design or otherwise) as we will no longer be masters in our own house.

As a matter of fact, I consider this laxity to be tantamount to a surrender of responsibility to a foreign power as most laws and policy directives now seem to emanate from ‘Brussels’ with the present incumbents at Westminster being relegated to being ‘rubber stamp merchants’ - a sad fact which renders their expensive upkeep to be rather questionable to say the least.

All being done while a MSM bangs on about matters light years distant from those critical to the survival of this country and the welfare of our people.

There’s something badly wrong here and it’s about time that people woke up to it and started to put those at Westminster on notice as to who really will be the true arbiters of power in this country - should they choose to ignore their responsibility and allow us to be subsumed by an undemocratic bunch of wide-boys in Europe.

Most of those in Westminster are traitors,by any reasonable definition of the word. I really do despair at their actions, and even moreso at the inaction and apathy of those who can kick them out.
Vote UKIP - its the only answer. :y

Indeed, Den. Whilst the very sovereignty of our our country is in peril, the headlines on the BBC are about some Hollywood nonentity getting £130k after having his phone hacked.

Not a word about the Franco-German power grab.

Not a word either about the bonuses they paid out to senior management recently, despite tha fect that the D.G. said the practice had been stopped 2 or 3 years ago. ::)
They are still talking in terms of the Euro/ EU being rescued. Its beyond ludicrous.

Don't worry, Albs. They are just a bit busy making sure they're not politically biased. ;)

If UKIP get their act together at the next election I think the current shower are going to be in for a bit of a shock. Libdem votes have evaporated and UKIP are polling at about the old LibDem level. The amount of people that are now anti-Eu membership seems to be growing all the time, not only from people you talk to but also by the results in polls.

If the conservatives get in by forming a UKIP-Con coalition, them I'm sure part of that agreement will be an EU membership referendum.

IMHO if Labour get in, going by the previous Labour Government's immigration policies, you won't have to worry about England as all indigenous members of the population will be forced out to make way for the next generation of immigrants from all poor needy countries, who's needs are far greater than yours. Harriet Harman as InEqualities minister will implement it on the basis that as your ancestors were part of beastly colonial Britain, it is now your turn to live in the poor countries while the poor exploited people of the ex-commonwealth can live it up in the UK. It will be called Labour's international fairness campaign. Sounds crazy, well remember you heard it here first, no more crazy, than an open doors immigration policy, would have sounded, before the last mob got in ::) ::) ::) ::)

Personally, I think the EU in its current form is in its death throws. These latest plans are the last desperate throw of the dice. When the Euro goes bust then a new Europe will emerge. The EUSSR project has never carried the people like in the old USSR. It is unfortunately just a matter of time, but what is not quantifiable is how much damage they will have done to all of the EU countries wealth. The best outcome would be if the EU reverted to its original intended role of a single market for the free movement goods, services and people as this has been the only major benefit the EU can be given credit for. So no EU Parliament, No un-elected EU council of Ministers, No Eurozone, No Cap, No CFP and no French social laws like the working time directive.  :y :y :y :y

Sadly UKIP won't get in at the next election.

The drones who make up the vast majority of voters haven't a clue what is going on in the EU. Even those of us interested or appalled by the EU can't offer firm facts and figures about how much we pay, how much we receive, what actual benfit we get from trade. Drones bang on about the EU and their Human Rights Court even though the two aren't connected.

Our masters in parliament are self serving. Sarkozy and Merkel need to get back into power so vote grab rather than doing the "right" thing. Same in Britain.

We are actually at a major crossroads. Maybe just maybe the Scottish Independence is actually an EU sponsored iniative. Divide and Conquer? Only time will tell. In the meantime Cameron with his moral capitalism guff has to protect his cronies (sorry backers) in the banking world. For once saying non nein to the Tobin EU tax is actually the right thing.

I had the delight of talking to a German(who lives in Spain) in a very long queue in Ikea yesterday. His view on it all was rather shocking (to me). He didn't see why Germany or anyone else should be expected to pay to bail out the PIIGS. How refreshing...............................................

Normal German view. The line was drawn in the sand by Frau Angela sometime ago, which is why she vetoed the French initiative to save their banks to solve the problem by issuing Eurobonds and printing Euros to inflate the debts away. Any other course other than no to any bailout proposals will cost Merkel any chance of winning the election and she knows it.  ::)

The Germans are actively talking about having the Deutschmark again and I'm sure the Germans authorities are already planning for this.

However, the losses the ECB have incurred may cause her major re-election problems in the event of Greece, Portugal, Spain or Italy defaulting / going bankrupt and the same for any of the banks using the LTRO, as they provide 53% of the backing for this institute. Due to losses on the bonds they have already bought the ECB is insolvent, by normal bank accounting methods. If the collateral pledged by the banks in the €483bn 3 year LTRO contains much dross (I would be shocked if it doesn't), with an expected up to €1T in next month's LTRO for the pledging of even more dross. If this is called upon in the event of any / multiple bank failure, these losses will also have to be covered by the Eurozone taxpayers. At this point I think Frau Merkel will need all the padding she has got in her fat butt as her election campaign ride will just have got very, very bumpy.

If I were a German opposition party I will be looking over this and informing the German population on potential German tax payer liabilities as they stand, at an appropriate time during the election campaign.  ::) :o :o :o

If the Euro situation goes tits up before Novembers election, so the German electorate see for real, their Eurozone liabilities, then I think the only friend of the planet Merkel will have is OOF's Desperate Den.  ;D ;D ;D
