For those of you running 'droid, try.....
1. Filmon - 150 channel live tv (Mainly European/UK) streaming to your phone (On Marketplace)
2. adownloader - Torrent client for your phone, music straight to your phone
3. The best, App Planet. This is a rip of the entire Marketplace, but apparently only contains full versions. You'll need to google it, it's not on the offical MP. Might I add no guarantees here, might be virii riddled, but there again so could the offical MP.

I'm watching this thread with interest, I've been waiting for a decent ICS build for my SGS2 before I start down that line.

I am keen to try ICS on my Nexus S but after reading the horror stories out there I convinced myself I would probably brick my handset.

Martian has given me more info and I am tempted to try it again once he clarifies the model will take it and I can 'roll back' to GB if I need to  :y :y

Your handset will definately take the latest (160 MB) update to ICS, that is not a problem.

I can't however find a full stock ROM for your handset, so if you want the ability to roll back you are going to have to root your handset and install Clockwork Mod Recovery in order to create a backup of your current ROM.

XXLP6 is the latest (4.0.3) official ICS build from Google and works quite well.

Note that if you are rooted and you decide to install ICS, it will replace the bootloader with one where the USB jig can not remove the warning triangle or reset the hidden counter that keeps track of how many times the phone has been started with an insecure kernel.
It is however easily fixed by using Odin to flash the original bootloader back after you upgrade.

Have a look at this

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063664

which links through to these

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445570

This is for the I9020T which has IML74K (ICS) available for it

and

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445621

This is for the I9020A which stops listing at build GRK39F but no mention of IML74K

All of the successful ICS install reports seem to refer to I9023 and I9020T but not I9020. There must be a good reason why Google have not released for my model.   :-\

The differences between the 9020 and 9023 are minor hardware changes (most notably the screen), you can forget the A variant of either as they are made for the US market only.

The i9020 and i9020T are exactly the same except for the internal antennas that cover wifi, bluetooth, and GPS (so it's the 9020T firmware you want).

The first link you posted is malformed (invalid address), and the second link you posted is to the version of ICS that caused a lot of grief for many users.
The (amended) ICS firmware you are after should be 160MB in size.

Fixed links below

Gingerbread 2.3.6

Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3

Don't forget to back up your personal data (pics, music, etc) and your contacts as they are both "full wipe" ROM's.

PS

If the CSC kicks in and asks you to select a region, you want XEU.
