Locked Out
« on: 27 January 2012, 00:27:46 »

The remote fob for my ex-plod 51 plate Omega still lights up as working but it's not unlocking the car. There's no sign of anything happening at all.

I figured the car battery may have gone flat as it had sat a few days, but went in through the boot and as soon as the key was in the ignition it unlocked and all fired into life.

Any ideas what may cause it? I'm going to replace the battery in the fob to eliminate it, but I'm sure its OK.

Cheers in advance

You should've still been able to unlock the doors the olde fashioned way by putting the key in the driver's door lock.  ;) Have you tried a 're-synch' of the key? Key in ign ........ press lock, car will lock then unlock. Your key should now be re-synchronised  :y :y

All in the handbook  ;) ;) ;) If the problem keeps reoccurring, then the battery holder in the key could be iffy, for which you need to send the fob to Martyn Imber.  :y :y :y

The key doesn't work in the door. Not sure if the lock's been changed at some point or just seized from lack of use. I'll try re synching it tomorrow. For now I'll just leave it unlocked...  ???

No luck. Still can't get it to work. Nothing happening trying to re synch it either. Any thoughts on what else may cause it? Not got a battery for it yet, but what else can I check?

For the fob you need to know it is transmitting when it ought to (okay, I'd expect the light to show that) and the receiver (alarm) module is receiving (on).  Assuming an RF type here (51).

After that it is sync up and ought to work.
- I've an RF receiver here if any use (won't decode but can hear the tx signal).

I see that all the time. But you check the battery and it has under 2.9 volts, so is flat. fit  a New one and it works properly.

I cant get into mine by putting the key in the door either, it just wont budge, I carry a spare fob battery in my wallet just in case.
